Riding Maxxis’ Maxxcross tires, defending champion Chad Johnson has taken his first AMA Arenacross victory of the season. The Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy Kawasaki rider won the fifth round of the series, held January 31 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
“It was a tough night of racing…I think every move I made was pretty much a block. Once I got to the front, I knew I had to make an aggressive move for the win. I came in hot, and I knew if I came out of it, I had it,” said Johnson. “It’s been a long season, and I really wanted to get a win.”
With 131 points, Johnson is third in overall series’ rankings. Maxxis Specialty Manager Mark Wilson praised his victory: “We are ecstatic about Chad’s first win of the series and suspect he has more to come.”
The next round of the AMA Arenacross series is scheduled for February 7-8 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Maxxis congratulates Chad Johnson and wishes him the best in his upcoming races.
