POLK CITY, Fla. – USA Water Ski has selected Chris Parrish (Orlando, Fla.) and Lauren Morgan (Odessa, Fla.) as its Male and Female Athletes of the Month, respectively, for March. Parrish and Morgan are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month honors.
Parrish won the men's slalom title at the 49th Moomba Masters, March 6-9, in Melbourne, Australia. Parrish, 30, scored 1-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to clinch his second consecutive and third career Moomba title.
Morgan won titles in girls' jumping and overall at the 2009 Junior Moomba Masters, March 4-5, in Melbourne, Australia. Morgan also finished runner-up in tricks and sixth in slalom. Morgan, a member of the 2008 U.S. Junior Water Ski Team and the lone U.S. athlete competing in the Junior Moomba Masters, won the jumping event with a distance of 131 feet (39.9 meters) and finished runner-up in tricks with a score of 3,850 points. She clinched the overall title with scores of 1-1/2 buoys at 28 feet off in slalom, 3,910 points in tricks and 131 feet (39.9 meters) in jumping.
USA Water Ski was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Water Ski Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States.
