USA Wheelchair Rugby is pleased to announce the selection of the 2011 USA Wheelchair Rugby Team. The team, which was selected at a tryout camp in Birmingham, Ala., will represent the United States in competition at the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation America's Zone Championships in Bogota, Colombia in September 2011.
"We have upgraded several positions with more depth and overall youth as well as athleticism," said head coach James Gumbert (Austin, Texas).
Team USA is coming off an undefeated world championship campaign in 2010 and is currently the top seeded team in the world.
The success of the program has been attributed to many things but Gumbert points out "it has been the sacrifices, determination and hard work from everyone involved with the program that has gotten us to where we are today".
