Jennifer Schuble (Birmingham, Ala.) and Allison Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led Team USA on the closing day of competition at the 2011 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships. Schuble picked up her second bronze medal in as many events, finishing the women’s 500m Time Trial (C5) in a time of 38.615, while Jones claimed bronze in the C4 category with a time of 46.276.
Greta Neimanas (Chicago, Ill./ Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted a time of 39.480 to clinch fourth place in the C5 category and Barb Buchan (Bend, Ore.) finished sixth in the C4 category with a time of 51.186.
Karissa Whitsell (Eugene, Ore.) and pilot Mackenzie Woodring (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished fourth in the qualifying rounds of the women’s tandem 3km Pursuit with a time of 3:42.561 and held onto the fourth place position in the final with a result of 3:44.517. Also racing the tandem pursuit were Carrie Willoughby (Bessemer, Ala.) and pilot Shelby Reynolds (Houston, Texas). The pair finished 13th in the qualifying rounds with a personal best time of 3:58.090.
Men’s tandem team Clark Rachfal (Annapolis, Md.) and pilot Dave Swanson (Tucson, Ariz.) captured fifth place in the Match Sprints.
In the qualifying rounds of the Team Sprint, Team USA’s squad of Aaron Trent (Columbia, S.C. / Colorado Springs, Colo.), Sam Kavanagh (Bozeman, Mont.) and Will Chesebro (Carmel Valley, Calif.) posted a performance of 53.038 to qualify in fourth position and advance to the final where they maintained their fourth place ranking, finishing in 52.985.
Team USA finished the World Championships with six total medals (one gold, two silver, three bronze).
